July 7 Little League baseball roundup: Newburgh thumps Pine Bush

Majors: Town of Newburgh 18, Pine Bush 5

Sam Mongelli and Ryan Kras each hit a three-run homer in the first inning as Town of Newburgh slugged its way to a victory at City of Newburgh.

Jake Cook had three hits and four RBI, and Matt Merritt had two hits and one RBI. Sean Rafferty pitched 32?3 innings, struck out seven and earned the win.

Town of Newburgh plays Middletown at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Middletown. Middletown can clinch the District 19 title with one win. If Town of Newburgh wins Monday, the teams will meet again at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Middletown in the district final.

John Grasso and Jax Bishop each homered for Pine Bush, which was eliminated.


Indian Valley 5, Ellenville 3

James Langer hit a pair of home runs to lead Indian Valley in Kerhonkson to a victory over Ellenville in the District 16 title game. Langer hit a 3-run home run and a solo shot.

Jacob Hickey was the game?s winning pitcher and he also had two singles.

Indian Valley plays a team to be determined on Saturday.

Ed Owinski was the losing pitcher for Ellenville. Michael Clay went 3-for-3 with two doubles.


10-11-year-olds: Monroe-Woodbury American 10, Cornwall 6

Mason Landlee pitched a complete game and also had two hits in Monroe-Woodbury American's victory at Town of Wallkill. Mike Paradati had two hits, and Zion Amparo drove in the game-winning run.

Monroe-Woodbury American plays Pine Bush at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Pine Bush. Pine Bush can win the District 19 title with one win. If Monroe-Woodbury wins on Monday, the teams would meet again at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Bush in the final.

Jack Robinson had two hits for Cornwall, which was eliminated.


Seniors: Town of Wallkill 4, Warwick 0

Brendan Watson pitched a one-hitter, and Dan McNamara went 3-for-3 with one RBI in the Town of Wallkill's victory at Wallkill Area.

Town of Wallkill plays the winner of Monday's game between Greenwood Lake and Otisville at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Windsor.

Tanner Senius had one hit for Warwick, which was eliminated.
