JAMES CITY -- Dan Downs has been named the new boys basketball coach at Lafayette High School.
Downs takes over for Patrick Brown, who posted a 7-16 record during his first year on the Rams bench. Brown resigned from his post in the spring to spend more time at home with his family.
Downs has spent the past two seasons as the junior varsity coach at Lafayette. Under his guidance, the Rams' junior varsity program was among the best in the Bay Rivers District.
He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Charles City High School.
