William J. Hornbuckle IV, who is leading the Las Vegas-based company?s effort for a casino in Springfield, was promoted to president and chief marketing officer of MGM Resorts International this week.
This is effectively the No. 2 position in the global casino company, which has about $9 billion in annual revenues. He will report to chairman and CEO James J. Murren.
Hornbuckle said on Friday that he will remain as president of MGM Springfield with a goal of winning the casino license for Western Massachusetts. Another company executive would operate a Springfield casino if MGM is awarded the license, he said.

Prior to MGM Grand, he was president and chief operating officer for Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
