An Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4 Is Your Deal of the Day

Thanks to legislation currently in the House, someday soon you're probably going to have to pay online sales tax. Surprisingly, it's not Amazon fighting the current bill?they're kinda behind it?but instead the strongest opposition is coming from Ebay.

Why Ebay? Because Ebay's power sellers run low-margin operations that sales tax could absolutely kill. Case in point: today there are two deals on Ebay from reputable resellers that become screaming deals because you don't have to pay tax.

Ebay's Daily Deals today include a Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4?one of the best Android phones?for $630. That's $60 less than Amazon and you won't have to pay tax. Also available: a 16GB WiFi iPad?fourth generation with the Lightning connector?for $450, and unlike the Apple Store, no tax either. The Marketplace Fairness Act has already passed the Senate and it's barreling through the House, so take advantage of this tax "holiday" while it lasts. [Ebay]

Screens

Earlier today I was browsing Ars Technica's Tuesday Dealmaster, run by LogicBuy, and a sale on the bottom piqued my interest. It listed LG's 84-inch 4k TV that Brent once called an "eyegasm" for $8000 less then the MSRP. Sure, it was still $12000, but that's still sick savings?over $5000 less than Amazon. But when I looked into the deal a little more, it seemed like there was a cabal of very shady sites, all with the same TV for the same too-low price, often with the word "TV" in the URL.

I decided not to share the deal; the chance that it's a scam is just too high. The lesson here is before you ever purchase something online?especially if it's a huge ticket item?do your due diligence and search for the store. You might find some very scary warning signs from sites like BBB and ResellerRatings.
